QuantaMatrix exhibited at the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) 2019 from 20-24 June 2019 in Chicago. ASM Microbe is one of the most influential associations in the world within the field of microbiology since its establishment in 1899. In this year’s ASM conference, QuantaMatrix promoted its marketing slogan `Rapid Phenotypic Antimicrobial Susceptibility Test: AST in 6 hours, TB DST in 7 Days,’ while exhibiting its two flagship products: dRAST (a direct and rapid antimicrobial susceptibility test system) and QDST (an anti-tuberculosis drug susceptibility test system). Responses from the participants were very positive about the efforts of QuantaMatrix to combat the antimicrobial resistance and drug-resistant tuberculosis issues by these two susceptibility testing systems.
Current Status of Anti-microbial Resistance and Drug-resistant Tuberculosis
According to the website of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 2.8 million people in the U.S. are infected from antimicrobial resistant diseases, and 35,000 patients die from this type of infection. The gravity of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis issue in the U.S. was clearly demonstrated by the announcement of `National Action Plan for Combating Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis’ from the White House, whose goal is to fight against multidrug-resistant tuberculosis, the most dangerous type of resistant tuberculosis.
